A family member of Shoaib Malik was cited by news agency PTI as claiming that “it was a ‘khula,’” referring to a Muslim woman’s prerogative to unilaterally divorce her spouse.</p>
<p>A few days before, Shoaib modified his Instagram bio from “Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza” to “Father to One True Blessing” and unfollowed Sania.</p>
<p>Sania had also alluded to her breakup with the former cricket player from Pakistan via a mysterious Instagram Story. The sentence “Marriage is hard” appeared on her story. Divorce is difficult. <p>For those who don’t know, Shoaib and Sania formerly lived in Dubai and were married in April 2010 in Hyderabad, the birthplace of the Indian star. In 2018, the ex-couple made an announcement on the birth of their son, Izhaan Mirza Malik. Since their purported divorce, Sania and Shoaib have been sharing parental duties for Izhaan. <p>In terms of her professional career, Sania has won 43 WTA doubles trophies, and one singles trophy, and she declared her retirement from tennis last year.
