Mohd Hafeez criticizes Cricket Australia for preparing the “slowest pitch” for Pakistan’s tour match, saying “Maybe It’s Tactical”; see

On Monday, Pakistan’s team director, Muhammad Hafeez, took aim at the cricket field that his team was given during last week’s warm-up match in Canberra against the Prime Minister’s XI.

Pakistan and PM XI played a four-day match that resulted in a tie. The visiting team scored 391 for 9 declared in 116.2 overs, but more importantly, their bowlers could only take 4 wickets after exerting themselves for 141 overs, while the host team scored 367/4.

Day 4 rain in the capital city caused the game to end sooner than planned.

Hafeez comments, “Disappointment really high.”

According to Hafeez, Cricket Australia may have taken the tactical choice to set up such sluggish conditions for Pakistan so that their bowlers and hitters wouldn’t become acclimated to the fast pitch at the WACA in Perth, where the first Test match is scheduled to begin on December 14.

“A visiting team could never have played on a slower pitch in Australia than that one.” We checked off the majority of the boxes, therefore as a team, we are pretty pleased with our preparations.

There was no use in bringing up the pitch’s unsatisfactoriness and bringing it up with Cricket Australia when everyone knew it already. We were somewhat disappointed since we hadn’t anticipated these types of arrangements.

“It could be tactical, but we’re prepared. We’re well prepared for the difficulties ahead, so we’re not using that as an excuse,” Hafeez told reporters.
