At the Mumbai airport, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence detains a passenger and personnel and recovers 3.35 kg of gold

Based on specific information, DRI agents at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport detained a passenger, as well as employees of a duty-free store and a food court, and seized 3.35 kg of gold in paste form.

According to DRI on Sunday, the gold is worth around Rs 2.1 crores. DRI claims that these airport employees used to transport this illegal gold outside the airport and transfer it to the next person at different locations.

According to DRI, a father-son team was detained in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar last month for their suspected involvement in a gold smuggling ring.

Suraj Bhosle and his father Dharamraj Bhosle were identified as the jewellers who were detained.
